SPRINGFIELD (South End) - The Battle for The Border League started their playoffs on Friday. BfTB is a new league in Western MA/Northern CT founded by The Court BC and the South End Community Center. There are 2 divisions in the BfTB: HS division and AAU Division.
Most of the games I’ve seen this summer were at The Court in Enfield, CT.
On Friday, I watched the National conference in the HS division.
6 PM
Paulo Freire beat Amherst 78-68.
(Will Johnson Jr. (Paulo Freire) drives to the basket)
Amherst led at halftime 37-35. They were moving the ball well and hitting 3s.
Second half, PF finally got consistent offense and played better defense

Granby Memorial (CT) beat Pope Francis beat 60-59.
This game came down to the wire but Granby Memorial pulled through.
8 PM
Baystate beat SICS 50-35.
The 3rd game of the night was Baystate vs. SICS. A lot of excitement in the gym especially from Baystate fans.
Baystate led at halftime 24-12. They hit more 3s; SICS had too many turnovers.
SICS couldn’t get their offense going in the second and Baystate cruised to victory.
9 PM
Longmeadow beat Holyoke 61-54.
The 4th game was pretty close. Holyoke led at halftime 31-24. Longmeadow had a lot of turnovers in the 1st half.
Longmeadow cleaned up those mistakes in the second half. They passed the ball well and got open shots. Holyoke couldn’t keep their offense going. Longmeadow moves on to the semifinals.
