2021 is the first year that FP SPORTS is covering High School football đ.
FP SPORTS coverage this season is dedicated to the football legacy of High School of Commerce superstar Mike Vaz. He recently published a book, Born Winner: The Highs & Lows of Mike Vaz. The book is available on Amazon [where I purchased my copy]. If you are in the Springfield area, I believe the Vaz family and extended family have books available.
Today, I was at the Roots Athletic Center in Westfield, MA. The Bombers from Westfield HS have to practice there this season.
I saw about 5 minutes of Holyoke HS đ practice yesterday, before the Holyoke đ game.
Today was the first full đ practice Iâve ever seen.
Practice was already underway when I arrived. There was a young man on the sideline in regular workout clothes, running sprints. Out on the field, the focus was on the offense. All the young men were in helmets and pads today. The offense was rehearsing several plays. The Bombers open the season at Chicopee Comp. Westfield HC Rob Parent was leading the practice.
Parent has been the HC of Westfield since 2014. He is originally from West Warwick, Rhode Island. He went to American International College (AIC) in Springfield, MA. He played QB from 2007-2010 and graduated in 2011.
After a water break and another offensive session, the defense got the focus. They have some good athletes in the secondary. Their corners and safeties have good height for that position.
Their offense looks like it can be explosive also. The Bombers offense is led by Junior QB Matt Adamites. HC Parent is âexpecting big thingsâ this season from Adamites. Parent says the QB has âimproved his arm strength and decision makingâ.
HC Parent also said he is âgratefulâ that the MIAA Fall 2 season included đ.
Westfield is definitely poised to have a good season this year. They have good leadership, which includes their assistant coaches.
The MIAA Fall 2 đ season opens up on Friday March 19, 2021.
